Ellie Monk claims individual stroke play title at 2025 St Andrews Links Collegiate

Wednesday 15 October 2025

University of St Andrews golfer Ellie Monk delivered a commanding performance on home turf to capture the individual stroke play title at the 2025 St Andrews Links Collegiate, presented by World Wide Technology.

Competing over two rounds on the historic Jubilee Course, Monk carded scores of 68 and 69 to finish at 7-under-par, edging out fellow Saints Golf Scholar Caitlin Maurice and Thanana Kotchasanmanee of Princeton University by a single stroke.

A third-year Economics undergraduate, Monk is currently ranked No. 733 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and continues to build an impressive amateur résumé. She first made headlines in 2024 with a breakthrough victory at the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open at Royal Troon, where she closed with a composed final-round 71.

Her consistency on the R&A Student Tour Series has been equally impressive, with top finishes including 2nd in Sweden, 3rd in Ireland and France, and 9th in Portugal—results that earned her 4th place in the 2024–25 Women’s Order of Merit.

Beyond the student circuit, Monk has also recorded 3rd-place finishes at both the St Andrews Links St Rule Trophy and the England Golf Closed Amateur Championship, alongside appearances at the R&A Women’s Amateur Championship and other national events.

Speaking just after her victory, Ellie commented: “I am over the moon, I am so grateful for the support of my team, friends and coaches Ian Muir and Ian Gaunt”

Now in its third year, the St Andrews Links Collegiate is hosted by St Andrews Links Trust in partnership with NBC Sports, welcomes student-athletes from Princeton University, Michigan State University, and the University of California, Berkeley, who compete alongside the University of St Andrews across the Jubilee and Old Courses.

The tournament continues today (Wednesday 16 October) with medal match play on the Old Course, where Monk and her teammates will look to carry their momentum into the team competition.

Spectator entry is free, and members of the local community are warmly encouraged to attend and support some of the world’s top collegiate golfers.

For those unable to attend in person, the event is broadcast live, with Sky Sports presenting coverage in the United Kingdom and NBC Sports airing on Golf Channel in the United States. Daily coverage begins at 2pm BST / 9am ET, with encore broadcasts each afternoon.

Ian Muir, Director of Golf at the University of St Andrews, commented: “Ellie’s performance over the last two days was an amazing show of composure and competitive spirit. To win on home soil, against such a strong international field, is a testament to her dedication and the strength of our programme. We’re incredibly proud of her achievement and excited to see what’s next in her journey.”
