Historic first as St Andrews prepares to install new Chancellor during summer graduations

The University is set to mark a historic milestone this summer during graduation week, with the formal installation of its new Chancellor, alongside celebrations for students and distinguished honorary graduates from around the world.
More than 2,200 students will graduate in St Andrews this summer, with ceremonies taking place in the Younger Hall between Monday 29 June and Friday 3 July 2026.
Dame Anne Pringle will be installed as Chancellor on Wednesday 1 July 2026, the first woman to hold the office in the University’s more than 600-year history.

A distinguished diplomat and St Andrews alumna, Dame Anne was elected earlier this year. As Chancellor, Dame Anne will play a key role in conferring degrees during graduation and representing St Andrews globally.
