Dragon drives debate with Business School students

Renowned entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den judge Peter Jones CBE joined Business School students for a dynamic Q&A session yesterday (Wednesday 1 October).
Organised in partnership with The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the event explored themes of innovation, leadership and enterprise, giving students the chance to learn first-hand from one of the UK’s most high-profile entrepreneurs.
Professor Mark Brewer, Dean of the University of St Andrews Business School, said:
“This event reflects our mission to develop globally minded leaders with the ambition, knowledge and skills to create a more prosperous and sustainable world. It also shows the importance of empowering our students to engage directly with leaders from industry and entrepreneurship.”

Students from the Business School were joined by peers from the University of Dundee, who shared that hearing directly from Peter Jones was deeply inspiring. The experience highlighted that entrepreneurship is not only about innovative ideas, but also about resilience, collaboration, and the ability to seize opportunities. Many left the event feeling motivated to apply their learning to real-world challenges.

The event also looked ahead to the School’s new Entrepreneurship MSc, designed for students from diverse academic backgrounds who want to turn ideas into action and lead with confidence in a fast-changing world. The programme welcomed its first cohort in September 2025.

Applications are open for the next cohort of the Entrepreneurship MSc programme, starting in September 2026. For more information, visit the programme page.
