More than 50 people from across Fife and Tayside involved in the Tay Cities Deal attended a ‘speed dating’ event at the University of St Andrews.

The Tay Cities Deal involves more than £1.8 billion of planned investment which could create up to 15,000 jobs for the region.

At the St Andrews event 17 organisations gave 60-second summaries of their projects in areas ranging from  tourism, food and drink, creative industries, eco innovation, digital, decommissioning, engineering, biomedical, and health and care.

Geoff Morris, Director of Special Projects & Community Engagement at St Andrews, said: “As a partner in the Tay Cities Deal the University is keen to forge links with others so we can work more closely together.

“What we have called a ‘speed dating event’ is effectively a series of one-minute presentations during which organisations outline their project, what the Tay Cities Deal could do for them and, most importantly, how we can work together.

“The University hopes that a successful Tay Cities Deal can create the economic flypaper to attract innovative green industries and commerce to work alongside our academic communities at our new Eden Campus in Guardbridge.”

The University of St Andrews is bidding for £24 million of the £1.84 billion Tay Cities Deal.
