Best accommodation award

Monday 23 June 2003

The University of St Andrews has won the 2003 Group Travel Award for Best University Accommodation, beating off competition from five other Universities.

John Horobin, Head of Conference and Group Services at the University, was presented with the award by the BBC’s Sophie Raworth at an awards dinner in London this month.

He said: “At St Andrews we are continually investing in our residential buildings and our staff. This award is recognition by Group Travel Organisers that our efforts are worthwhile. We are delighted to have won against some stiff competition from other universities. The award is a tribute to our staff in Residential and Business Services who work so hard during the summer.”

The Group Travel Awards are organised by Group Travel Organiser magazine and are now in their seventh year. Readers of the magazine nominate the finalists and then vote to choose the winner. There are 25 categories including visitor attractions, hotels and transport operators.
