Noam Chomsky

Professor Noam Chomsky, fresh from being made an Honorary Graduate of St Andrews, made a special appearance at the Younger Hall this week (Tuesday 19 June 2012) as part of the University’s 600th Anniversary celebrations.

His 600th Anniversary lecture, The Great Charter: Its Fate, Our Fate, was delivered to a sellout crowd of almost 1000 students and members of staff.  Such was the demand, the event was moved from the Buchanan Lecture Theatre to the Younger Hall at the eleventh hour.

Professor Chomsky was thanked by the assembled audience with a standing ovation.  If you missed the lecture, you can watch it again online here.

Earlier in the day, following being made an Honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt), Professor Chomsky spent some time with student media, talking about a vast array of subjects from Scottish independence, Twitter, faith, the Royal Jubilee and Syria to The Saint, The Stand and Bubble TV, who made a video of the event.
