Countdown to golfers’ honorary degree ceremony

With just over a month until Seve Ballesteros and Colin Montgomerie receive honorary degrees from the University of St Andrews, golf fanatics are being urged to snap up tickets while they can.

The world-famous golfers will both receive a Doctor of Laws degree at the ceremony in the University’s Younger Hall at 4pm on 18 July 2000.

The ceremony, which is envisaged to last 30 minutes, will include a laureation address by Acting Principal Professor Colin Vincent and a brief address by Professor Ian Carradice of the School of Art History who will talk on the ancient links between the University, the town and golf.

A commemorative programme will also be available.

A limited number of tickets are available from the Events Office on telephone (01334 462110).
