Fashion show aims for record charity target

Thursday 20 February 2003

A sneak preview of this year’s official University of St Andrews Charities Campaign Fashion Show was revealed today (Thursday 20 February 2003).

World renowned Scottish artist and Patron of the show Jack Vettriano joined some of the models showcasing a sample of haute couture due to feature in the “Don’t Walk” event at St Andrews Bay hotel on Sunday 23 March 2003.

An original painting by Vettriano will be auctioned at the glitzy event.

The fashion show, which achieved international acclaim in 2002, will this year support Juvenile Diabetes and Scottish International Relief.

Backed by Jack Vettriano, Judi Dench, Alan Rickman and Radio 1’s DJ Spoony, the event will again bring the best of European student designs from Paris’ ESMOD, Rome’s Design Institute and, on exceptional loan, Pierce Brosnan’s Die Another Day and Mel Gibson’s Braveheart costumes. The show has been heavily sponsored, most notably, by DHL.

Director Charlie Moretti said, “Last year, the show achieved international acclaim and raised nearly £6,000 for a number of worthy charities. This year, the show is bigger and better than ever and hopes to raise over £20,000.”
