New team take the helm at students’ association
Following their successful elections in March, the Students’ Association has four new sabbatical officers for the next Academic year. The team have now taken up their full-time positions following two weeks of intensive training from their predecessors.
The four new sabbaticals, Derek MacLeod (President), Nicola Heaney (Director of Communications), Will MacFarlane (Director of Representation) and Ben Spiers (Director of Services), all recently graduated in the June ceremonies and are looking forward to a busy but rewarding year. The team believes that they have a good mix of experience and interests between them to tackle many of the issues that they will encounter.
As well as organising events for the students throughout the year, including Freshers’ Week for the new students, the team have many other long-term goals.
“I am keen to foster relations between students and local residents,” said MacLeod.
“Many students are active in community related projects that sometimes get overshadowed by incidents involving a few. I would like to bring the student and local communities closer by highlighting the benefits of working together rather than separately”.
