Pupils meet health researchers

Thursday 29 August 2019

Pupils from North East Fife secondary schools visited the University of St Andrews on Friday 23 August for an insight into health data science.

Forty-four S6 pupils from Bell Baxter High School in Cupar and Madras College in St Andrews heard an introductory lecture on the topics and took part in activities developed by Health Data Research UK fellows. The teenagers also had the opportunity to ask research fellows more about their work in health data science.

The visit was part of the first summer school by Health Data Research UK, the national institute for health data science, to be held at the University of St Andrews last week.

Research fellows from across the UK gathered in St Andrews last week for specialist training sessions in data science.

Pupils from Madras College and Bell Baxter High School are pictured with the School of Medicine’s Professor Colin McCowan and Karen Hunter as well as academics and research fellows from HDR UK.
