Scotland’s poetry festival

Wednesday 6 September 2000

StAnza 2000, Scotland’s Poetry Festival, runs from 4 to 8 October 2000 in various venues around St Andrews.

In this millennium year, the festival features many of the country’s principal poets alongside leading contemporary poets from Australia, Catalonia, Italy, Romania and Tunisia; with music, exhibitions, book launches, lectures, workshops, open mike sessions and performance poetry events.

StAnza 2000 starts on the eve of National Poetry Day and continues through five days of widely varied events. This year, the festival pursues a Mediterranean theme as well as commemorating the 250th anniversary of Burns’s favourite poet and University of St Andrews graduate, Robert Fergusson.
