St Andrews top in Scotland

Friday 18 September 2020

The University of St Andrews is the top university in Scotland and 3rd in the UK in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021 published today (Friday 18 September).

St Andrews retains third place in the UK academic ranking, a position it has held for several years, but has closed the gap on Oxford in second place and Cambridge at the top to the narrowest it has ever been.

The new Guide ranked St Andrews top in Scotland for student experience and scoring highly for teaching quality, graduate prospects and completion rate.

The Times and Sunday Times Guide 2021 results follow a strong performance by the University in the Guardian University Guide 2021 in which St Andrews was ranked 2nd in the UK, splitting the Oxbridge duopoly for a second year in succession.

St Andrews was also named top in the UK for student experience in the National Student Survey 2020.

The new edition of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021, a free 96-page supplement, will be published this weekend in The Sunday Times (20 September).
