Head of Public Affairs Lindsey Alexander leads on Public Affairs for the University, liaising with elected officials, policymakers and change groups locally, at Holyrood and at Westminster – taking forward the University’s strategic priorities on external engagement at an institutional level.

Working under the direction of Vice-Principal (Communications) Niall Scott and alongside the Principal’s Office team, Lindsey works on developing a programme of meetings, events and briefings to ensure stakeholder engagement across all areas of strategic importance to attract investment, impact policy and develop opportunities.

Lindsey also works closely with the Head of Community Engagement and Social Responsibility Lesley Caldwell to advance partnerships with community groups.

Public Affairs can help facilitate meetings with and visits from members of all political parties, Scottish and UK governments, consulates, senior civil servants, non-governmental organisations, and business and industry leaders. 

Public Affairs also lead on important initiatives like Scotland’s Future Series and St Andrews involvement in The Scottish Council on Global Affairs, as well as initiatives like the University Bus Travel Discount scheme which reflect the University’s commitment to social responsibility and meeting net zero targets.
