St Andrews student creates a ‘hullabaloo’

Wednesday 1 December 2010

Darius CartierA student at the University of St Andrews has released a single to mark World AIDS Day, launched today (Wednesday 1 December 2010) with events around the world.

Darius Cartier, a third year student at the University, wrote the song ‘Hullabaloo’ in support of the Terrence Higgins Trust, AVERT and the World AIDS Campaign.

For every sale, Darius (21) will donate 49p to the Terrence Higgins Trust and AVERT, with half going towards UK-based AIDS projects and the other half dedicated to international schemes.

The South London-born singer-songwriter commented, “The song emphasises the importance of taking AIDS seriously, not only by the public but indeed by governments around the world.

“Many states do not provide adequate or appropriate advice, help and support for HIV-positive people. We need to be making a “Hullabaloo”, and protesting that not enough is being done to protect and care for those in need.

“By purchasing the single, you will not only be directly supporting those with AIDS, those helping people living with AIDS, and those who are tirelessly working towards producing a cure; you will be demonstrating that you care.”

The theme this year for World AIDS Day 2010 is “Universal Access and Human Rights” which aims to increase knowledge, combat prejudice, and improve the access of antiretroviral treatments across the globe. It also focuses on the importance of prevention of the spread of the disease within all communities.

Hullabaloo is available to buy priced 79p on all major download portals.
