Bright sparks compete for chemistry title

Budding young chemists from throughout Tayside and Fife will gather in St Andrews tomorrow (Tuesday 14 March 2006, 6pm) for the regional finals of a prestigious chemistry quiz.

Established by the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Top of the Bench competition will take place in the University of St Andrews’ School of Chemistry and aims to spark interest and excitement in the field of chemistry.

This year’s final, which is the 28th, has been organised by the Tayside Local Section of the RSC and involves pupils from Auchterarder High School, the High School of Dundee, Lawside Academy and Madras College.

Last year’s Tayside winners, Madras College, are taking part in the National Final at the Science Museum in London on 25 March 2006.
