Dedicated staff rewarded

Hardworking and dedicated staff at the University of St Andrews have been recognised for their continued loyalty and commitment over the last year.

The 340 members of the University’s Residential & Business Services Department have successfully provided accommodation and associated services for students, staff and visitors to the University throughout what has been an extremely busy twelve months.

In order to recognise publicly the services and achievements of individuals and teams, an awards ceremony was held in University’s Gateway building recently. During the ceremony, the Director of Residential & Business, Roger Smith, expressed his thanks to all staff whom he said had “contributed to the success of Residential Services”, which is a central part of the University’s student experience.

Amongst the commendations made were awards for long-term service, with Hamish Johnston, Sheila Stewart, Sandra Bruce and Moira Paton each receiving awards for thirty years service. Isobel Clifford, Christine Bews, Joy Straith, Lynn Connah & David Ritchie for twenty-five years service, and Janice Christie and Sheila Cunningham for achieving twenty years service.

Awards were also presented to David Russell Apartments, which gained the Gold Award for the Green Tourism Business Scheme, and eight of the catered residences successfully achieved their EatSafe Award.

A number of staff also received certificates for completing the following training courses; Elementary & Intermediate Food Hygiene; Practical & Group Training Certificate; Institute of Leadership & Management; Servewise On-Licence; First Aid at Work; Elementary Health & Safety and Elementary Food & Health.
