GC anniversary celebrated

Monday 28 November 2005

Sir Kenneth Dover, who retires as Chancellor of the University on 31 December 2005, presided for the final time at a meeting of the General Council in Dundee at the weekend (Saturday 26 November).

Sir Kenneth’s cutting of an anniversary cake (pictured) had a double significance: not only was it 50 years since the Council had met for the first and only other time in Dundee (at Queen’s College, then a part of the University of St Andrews) in 1955, but also it marked 25 years of Sir Kenneth’s own presidency since his election as Chancellor in 1981.
