Hall of residence goes on-line

Wednesday 11 October 2000

A University of St Andrews hall of residence has unveiled a state-of- the-art computer facility for students.

The computer room in Hamilton Hall houses five PCs, providing the hall’s 128 students with 24-hour access to the latest technology, including email and internet access.

As part of a joint venture with IT company Compaq, the room has been refurbished by the University’s Estates and Buildings department .

Warden Shane Bonnetti said, “The room is already making a huge impact on the way the students live their lives, giving them computer access on tap and allowing them to communicate with the outside world around the clock without leaving the hall.”
