The University of St Andrews will award the following honorary degrees next month (19-22 June 2007):

Baroness ONeill (Dlitt- Doctor of Letters) President of the British Academy and eminent Moral Philosopher

Sir Professor Kenneth Murray (DSc- Doctor of Science) Emeritus Professor of Molecular Biology, School of Biological Sciences, University of Edinburgh

Sir Brian Heap (DSc- Doctor of Science) Master of St Edmunds College, Cambridge and Special Professor in Animal Physiology in the University of Nottingham

Dr Richard Fortey (DSc- Doctor of Science) Merit Researcher in the Natural History Museum

Professor Richard Rorty (Dlitt- Doctor of Letters) Professor of Comparative Literature and Philosophy at Stanford University

Professor Janet Nelson (Dlitt- Doctor of Letters) Professor of Mediaeval History, Kings College, London

Professor Janet Thornton (DSc- Doctor of Science) Director of European Bioinformatics Institute, Cambridge

Prof Neil Douglas (MD- Doctor of Medicine) Professor of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, University of Edinburgh and President of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh

Sir John Sunderland (LLD- Doctor of Laws) Chairman of Cadbury Schweppes
Rev Joel Edwards (DD- Doctor of Divinity) General Director, Evangelical Alliance, London

Jenni Murray (Dlitt- Doctor of Letters) Journalist, Broadcaster, Writer
