Rectorial installation

The new Rector of the University of St Andrews, journalist, author and broadcaster Sir Clement Freud, will be officially installed this week.

The event, which is open to members of the public, will take place at 3pm on Friday 21 February 2003 in Younger Hall, North Street, St Andrews.

Sir Clement will be installed by Chancellor of the University Sir Kenneth Dover.

In addition to the traditional rectorial address, welcoming addresses will be given by President of the Students Association Rory O’Hare; Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr Brian Lang; and Senior Governor of the University Court William Berry.

NOTE TO EDITORS

You are invited to send a reporter/photographer to a photocall at Younger Hall, North Street, St Andrews at 2.30pm prompt on Friday 21 February 2003.

Weather permitting, the photocall will take place on the lawn to the west of Younger Hall.

If weather is poor, the photocall will take place in the upper robing room of Younger Hall.

Please report to Claire Grainger and/or Gayle Cook on arrival.
