Staff matters

Researchers exploring the best human resources practices are descending on St Andrews for a one-day conference (Friday 15 June 2007).

The Gateway

The School of Management event, in association with the Scottish Partnership of CIPD and Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, will showcase cutting-edge research and organisational practice in both the public and private sectors.

Speakers will discuss a range of issues from recruitment in the construction industry, employment matters in the offshore oil industry and healthcare, to managing migrant workforces and conducting staff attitude surveys.

A keynote address will be given by Mark Butler, the University of St Andrews’ Secretary and Registrar who will speak on `Spanning Two Towers: The Interplay of Knowledge and Practice in Human Resource Management’.

Other contributors include the Universities of Abertay Dundee, Robert Gordon, Dundee, Glasgow Caledonian and Paisley, together with Tesco plc, NHS Tayside and Michelin plc.

The event will take place at The Gateway, North Haugh, St Andrews.
