Staff raise £800 with International Women’s Day dook for Fife Women’s Aid

Monday 11 March 2024

More than 30 University staff and friends gathered at the East Sands beach to mark International Women’s Day with a dook in the chilly waters of St Andrews Bay.

The event, which took place on Friday 8 March, raised almost £800 for Fife Women’s Aid.

Four members of the Principal’s Office – Vice-Principal Education (Proctor) Professor Clare Peddie, Vice-Principal (Strategy, Policy and Planning) Ester Ruskuc, Master of the United College, Professor Ineke De Moorteland, and Assistant Vice-Principal (Dean of Arts and Divinity) Professor Catherine O’Leary – all made a splash alongside colleagues from Communications, Student Services, Development, the School of International Relations, the School of History, Registry and staff from College Gate.

Colleagues from the University’s Accommodation, Conferences and Events (ACE) team were on hand to serve tea, coffee and breakfast rolls to warm up those taking part as well as spectators who went along to cheer them on.

The JustGiving page is still open for anyone wishing to support the fundraising appeal for Fife Women’s Aid.

The sum raised includes Gift Aid donations.

Issued by the University of St Andrews Communications Office.
