St Salvator's Quadrangle

The University of St Andrews is to open its ancient heart to a huge student party next month to help raise funds for cancer support.

St Salvator’s Quadrangle on North Street will be the venue for the launch party of FS:08, the annual student fashion show. Over 1000 partygoers are expected to descend on the Quad on Saturday March 8th for the 7 p.m. to 1.30 a.m. party featuring the world famous Ministry ofSound and presented by the St Andrews student radio station Star FM.

Both the launch party and the Fashion Show – which takes place in theYounger Hall, St Andrews, on March 21st – will help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. It will be the first time the University has licensed this scale of student entertainment in the Quad, areas of which date from the 15th Century. It has asked the student organisers to inform nearby residents and seek the blessing of Fife Constabulary in advance of both events.  The event has been granted a licence by the Licensing Board.

Fashion Show Director Olly Markeson said: “We’re delighted to have been entrusted with such a special location for this event and are enormously grateful for the support of the University.

“It’s a great privilege for us to get the opportunity to enjoy a party in the heart of the University whilst raising funds for such a worthy cause. We will of course be taking all possible measures to ensure we respect the fabric and integrity of what is a fantastic venue.”
