World-wide appeal of graduation

Thursday 30 November 2006

A group of over one hundred postgraduate Management students from over twenty-five countries will graduate at the University of St Andrews today (Thursday 30th November 2006).

The students, from all around the world, are all graduates of the School of Management’s postgraduate programmes. In all, 149 students have successfully completed Masters (MLitt) degrees in International Business, Marketing and Finance and Management, but the 101 students graduating in person today are the highest number of international students to return to graduate in person. One group, the Finance and Management cohort, are the first graduates of the twelve- month Masters programme launched in 2005.

Countries represented include the UK, Italy, Cyprus, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Greece, USA, China, Uzbekistan, Saudi-Arabia and Nigeria.

The Head of the School of Management Professor Peter McKiernan will host a special reception at The Gateway in the morning in recognition of the number of students graduating, with a cake big enough to feed a hundred!

He said, “Today’s graduation represents the School’s increased international exposure and ability to recruit more students from different countries. The School of Management continues to expand both in student numbers and in Masters programmes and wishes its graduates successful careers and a long relationship with their alma mater.”
