The Museum Collections of the University of St Andrews have been awarded Registered Museum status.
A £2 million, five year funding package has been awarded to the Universities of St Andrews and Heriot-Watt to develop a new Masters degree aimed at meeting the needs of Scotland's booming photonics telecommunications industry.
Three successful Scots, fourteen academics and around forty students will receive formal recognition of their achievements next week (St Andrew's Day - Thursday 30 November 2000). The initial closing date for the St Andrews Prize, an internationally acclaimed initiative aimed at finding new and inspiring ideas to help the environment, is fast approaching. Launched in September 2000, the annual initiative, which is co- sponsored by the University and international energy company Conoco, is offering $25,000, a medal and the encouragement of government, business and academic institutions in return for an innovative and original solution to an environmental problem. There will be additional awards, each of $5,000, for the runners-up.
