Alumni weekend 2009

Wednesday 24 June 2009

Over 300 graduates and friends of the University, many celebrating special anniversaries of their graduation, will gather in St Andrews for this year’s Annual Alumni Reunion Weekend (26 – 28 June).

With graduation dates spanning 64 years, from 1944 to 2008, graduates will travel from the US, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, as well as from all parts of the UK.

The highlight of the weekend is a black tie dinner and ball on Saturday evening, with local Madras School Pipe Band Beating the Retreat and a lone piper leading dinner guests from Lower College Hall in St Salvator’s Quadrangle to the Younger Hall for the Reunion Ball.

In addition, graduates of the School of Classics from across the years are gathering separately for a special reunion on Saturday at Swallowgate, and for dinner at the Gateway.

The After Many Days Club, one of the University’s oldest and largest alumni clubs, has been meeting for their annual Reunion at the end of June for many years and 100 of their members will join the many graduates revisiting their alma mater this weekend to renew old friendships and make new ones.
