Honorary degrees 27 June 2008

Major General George Cowan, environmental and political activist George Monbiot, and molecular biologist Sir Kenneth Murray were made honorary graduates of the University of St Andrews this morning (Friday 27 June 2008).  They are pictured above following the ceremony.

During the afternoon ceremony, French philosopher and literary critic Professor Rene Girard (pictured below with laureator Professor Paul Gifford) was made a Doctor of Letters.
